Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s 6th Annual
Automating Protein Production Workflows
Integrating Automation, Data, and AI for High-Throughput Production and Analytics
May 13-14, 2027
Automation is reshaping protein production by linking individual laboratory operations into faster, integrated, data-rich workflows. Robotics, digital twins, and AI are opening new possibilities for autonomous operation, while affordable technologies and workflows are making lab automation accessible to smaller teams. Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s 6th Annual Automating Protein Production Workflows conference will examine how laboratories are applying automated high-throughput advances across protein science discovery, development, transfection, expression, purification, quality control, and characterization. The program will highlight lights-out production, practical automation, data standards for machine learning, and integrated workflows that reduce variability, increase throughput, and accelerate progress from hit identification to functional testing.
Coverage will include, but is not limited to:
- Lights-out Production: Automation, Digital Twins & Real-Time Analytics
- Digital twin and autonomous production cases
- Automated transfection and purification in practice
- DEL screening doubling as production QC
- Real-time analytics guiding purification strategy
- Automation on a Budget
- Examples of practical automation for resource-constrained labs
- Closing the smaller lab data gap
- Doing more with less workflow testing
- Scalable low-cost cell-free synthesis
- Data Quality and Collection to Enhance AI-Enabled Workflows
- Data capture and data quality
- Consortium model for shared data repositories
- Deciding what to capture and format
- Reducing the curation burden across labs
- Production as a Data Engine for ML/AI
- Pipelines designed for ML training datasets
- Standardized data capture formats gaining traction
- Negative data sharing moving into practice
- Cross-lab adoption of shared standards
- Compressing Hit to Lead: Integrated Expression to Characterization Pipelines
- Integrated expression characterization pipelines compressing timelines
- Automated QC keeping pace with throughput
- Multi-milligram automation supporting functional assays
- Multispecific purification shortcuts and universal methods
The deadline for priority consideration is October 23, 2026.
All proposals are subject to review by session chairpersons and/or the Scientific Advisory Committee to ensure the overall quality of the conference program. Additionally, as per Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s policy, a select number of vendors and consultants who provide products and services will be offered opportunities for podium presentation slots based on a variety of Corporate Sponsorships.
