Cambridge Healthtech Institute’s 6th Annual
Machine Learning for Protein Engineering
The Use of Benchmarking to Put AI to the Test
May 13-14, 2027
The use of ML/AI tools and modeling is enabling a vastly different process for drug development that is optimized for efficiency and success at every step of the biologics pipeline. The Sixth Annual Machine Learning for Protein Engineering track at PEGS Boston will provide an overview of tools being used in the industry with use cases and real examples of large-scale validation and implementation successes, as well as tips for overcoming current challenges and bottlenecks. Newly evolved developability metrics will employ the best proxies of success and correlate their use with real results. This conference will cover key advancements in algorithm development, agentic AI, generative language models and evaluation, and data-driven decision-making, providing researchers with tools to enable prediction with greater accuracy and efficiency. These techniques promise to transform discovery, prediction, developability, simulation, and optimization of biologics.
Coverage will include, but is not limited to:
- Adapting machine learning/AI, modeling, and computational tools to expedite antibody and biologic discovery and optimization
- Evolving lab-in-the-loop to self-driving labs
- Guiding optimization, rules and benchmarks for developability with ML/AI
- Driving design with in silico tools
- Using ML/AI in developing TCEs, multispecifics, and novel scaffolds
- Improving developability metrics through standardization, controls, and reproducibility
- Designing computational models of human antibodies, proteins, mini-binders, and peptides
- Creating training sets and leveraging federated learning
- Learning from use cases, benchmarking studies and success stories of ML/AI
- Employing and scaling generative protein language models
- Implementing agentic systems
The deadline for priority consideration is October 23, 2026.
All proposals are subject to review by session chairpersons and/or the Scientific Advisory Committee to ensure the overall quality of the conference program.
